Attending Blue Barrel Surf Tour with Coast to Coast was absolutely the highlight of my summer. I’ve attended tours with Coast to Coast before and have enjoyed every adventure I’ve been lucky enough to go on with them.
I’ve attended tours with Coast to Coast before and have enjoyed every adventure I’ve been lucky enough to go on with them. Every instructor I’ve worked with has been encouraging, fun and given some of the best advice I’ve received in my surfing journey.
Even when you’re surfing your worst you still have the most fun because of the energy this group gives off! I came into this tour quite apprehensive, I’d had a pretty heavy experience a few years ago and really psyched myself out. So the past few years I’ve been trying to get out of my comfort zone again and push myself in bigger conditions. I haven’t had much success, often waiting for the charts to show a smaller swell coming in. But when I told Sam about my experience, it felt like he really took that in and pushed me out of my comfort zone without me even realising it. Next thing I knew, I was paddling out back in choppy conditions I never thought I could attack again. I caught some incredible waves with the help and confidence of Sam’s coaching and I’m so grateful.
Even when I went into the whitewater after catching my best wave – he came in and was just as happy as I was! I’d never done much yoga, i’ve taken classes and online videos but never really got on with it. I always felt super intimidated by the practice as I wasn’t very good.
But Diane absolutely made the practice accessible, and stress free. Not to mention the yoga was a genuine lifesaver when it came to being able to surf as much as we did. I don’t think it would have been possible without her guidance. There were so many alternative positions she came equipped with and she made me feel like I could go away and keep practicing on my own. However, I can’t wait to come and attend one of her classes in Dunbar.
