A gentle introduction to coasteering for juniors, families or adults. Join our experienced instructors guiding you along the coast.

Coasteering adventurer
This Coasteer is for more adventurous adults, older juniors and families who are confident in the water. Lessons include a friendly Coast to Coast qualified instructor and top of the range equipment!
- Exploring channels, caves and the intertidal environment
- Learning climbing skills and correct jumping technique from different heights
- Gaining swim, rope and safety skills
- Great for building water confidence and even more of a buzz in waves!

Requirements
Minimum age is 7 years old. Juniors under 10yrs must be very confident and accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian. All participants must be able to swim 100 meters unaided.
Duration
Lessons last two hours.
Location
We are based at Belhaven Surf Centre, next to the south side of Belhaven Beach.
Equipment
We provide all safety equipment and re-enforced wetsuits.
Group Size
Maximum 8 to 1 instructor.
Conditions
In the event of big swell or extreme weather we offer alternative sport, rescheduling, voucher or a refund.
FAQs
Standard sessions last for two hours. This is from the lesson start time to finish time in the water. Please allow roughly 15-30mins extra for the walk back and changing.
We offer 1 instructor to 8 customers. For coasteering, we do not offer private classes.
Yes, swim costume, towel and sunscreen
We provide excellent wetsuits and accessories appropriate to conditions so you are warm and comfortable throughout the year. Safety equipment is provided for coasteering classes.
If you are more cautious or new to coasteering we recommend the explorer – if you are more experienced or adventurous – please join the adventurer.
For all lessons and hires we require all participants to be able to swim a minimum of 50 metres unaided.
Yes, we provide experienced staff and all routes are risk assessed. All activities on a coasteer are optional and should you wish not to do a jump or climb you do not need too.
No unfortunately. Although we know of people that participate while pregnant perfectly happily our company policy is not to allow this.
Belhaven Surf Centre. Coasteering classes take part along the Dunbar coastline.
