SUP beginner lesson
Our introductory paddleboard lessons are a great first step in the art of paddleboarding. Lessons include a friendly Coast to Coast qualified instructor and top of the range equipment!
- Lessons include safety and equipment theory
- Prone, kneeling, standing skills
- Paddle technique
- Self-rescue technique
- Lessons run in flat conditions in the sea or enclosed water
- Juniors must be 13yrs+ for individual SUP lessons.

SUP improver tour
Our tours build on the basic skills learned in Beginner lesson. Lessons include an experienced senior Coast to Coast qualified instructor and top of the range equipment!
- Introduction to exposed coastal open water environment
- Learn to route plan and paddle safely on the coast
- Adapt and learn new skills to match the conditions on the day
- Learn self-rescue techniques
- An introduction into sea paddling, dealing with wind and small surf or chop
- If challenging conditions, we offer a back up of upskilling technique and do fun, challenging drills in an enclosed area
- As conditions change daily this class can be done 2 or 3 times.

Unique SUP tours
Wonderful adventures in East Lothian and Scottish borders this summer with our experienced paddleboard instructors. These adventures offer excellent foundation skills in independent coastal paddling expeditions. The 2 Dunbar tours are entry-level 2 hour paddle tours. The Forth Island & St Abbs tours are full-day tours with a minimum requirement of one previous SUP lesson.
- New skills can include small wave surf, downwind, slow river or open water coastal paddles
- Route and safety planning
- Stunning locations including historic castles and cliff paddles in local wildlife reserves
- Open to 13yrs+ and competent paddlers who have completed an official beginner paddleboarding class (ASI/ISA)
- All paddles are weather and swell dependant. In the event of high winds or large swell, we offer alternative paddle locations on the day, reschedule or a full refund.
- Paddle start times will vary depending on location and tides.
SUP & yoga day
Kosa yoga has teamed up with Coast to Coast surf school to run a series of yoga-SUP days. Expect a gentle yoga practise to help you prepare for an introduction to stand up paddleboarding. Discover the benefits of yoga and how it can help develop balance and stamina on (off!) your SUP board.
- Experienced Iyengar yoga teacher Diane Christopherson
- 90 minute yoga practice designed to release tension and improve flexibility in the shoulders, spine, and legs
- Yoga classes take part in the Belhaven Surf Centre, all equipment is provided
- After yoga, refreshments of coffee/tea and delicious homemade cake
- The afternoon paddleboarding takes place at Belhaven beach (conditions allowing) run by one of Coast to Coast experienced paddleboard instructors
Mega SUP
Coastal adventures on our variety of very large group paddleboards. Work as a team to learn new skills navigating the coast. Lessons include a friendly Coast to Coast qualified instructor as a guide and top of the range equipment!
- Super fun for junior, adult, family or corporate groups
- 2 SUP XL boards (10 kids or 6-8 adults)
- 2 SUP L boards (4 adults, 5 juniors or family of 5)
- 2 SUP Dragon boards (4 adults or family of 5)
- Guided adventures along Dunbar’s beautiful coastline
- Lots of fun games and challenges
- Open to 7 yrs+ with adult guardian
- All participants must be able to swim 50m
- Junior only groups will go out with our qualified staff on the same board

Private SUP lesson
Our private lessons are super fun and aimed at small private groups (4 to 8 people) who wish to have a more tailored or specialist experience. Prices range from £45 to £75 per person, depending on group size.
Private lessons for 1-3 people are possible at quiet times and cost between £90-£120pp depending on group size.
FAQs
2 hours for lessons. Tours start from 2 hours long, with our day tours between 4-6hrs. They vary in time depending on locations and route plans.
We offer 1 instructor to 8 customers. We can organise private classes but please contact the office.
Yes – swim costume, towel and sunscreen.
We provide excellent wetsuits and accessories appropriate to conditions so you are warm and comfortable throughout the year. All paddleboard equipment hire is included in the cost of the lesson/tour.
If you are a beginner you can start with beginner classes. More advanced paddlers can join our tours
For all lessons and hires we require all participants to be able to swim a minimum of 50 metres unaided.
Yes, all our beginner classes are in an enclosed tidal estuary or harbour, we provide experienced instructors to act as your guides too.
No unfortunately. Although we know of people that participate while pregnant perfectly happily our company policy is not to allow this.
Belhaven Surf Centre. Beginners classes take place in front of the estuary or in Dunbar Harbour and tours are mostly on the beautiful East Lothian Coastline. Unique tours can be inland.
