TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Bookings are now done online. All participant’s information must be filled in before they are allowed to take part in any activities.
We normally accept cash, card or online booking payment. A deposit is payable at time of booking for our products unless otherwise stated. The person making the booking accepts responsibility for payment.
In the rare events where we cannot accept personal payment all booking will be non contact and online.
CHANGING YOUR BOOKING
Coast to Coast will make every effort to accommodate any changes to single hire or lesson or day lesson, products after the booking has been confirmed. Notice of the requested change must be provided at least 48 hours before the hire/lesson start time and changes will be subject to availability.
For courses and surf camps we can accommodate changes, subject to availability, and provided we have received two weeks advance notice before the start dates.
A full payment will be taken on all hire and lesson booking cancellations within 24 hours of the start of the course unless the customer communicates and we accept that exceptional circumstances have occurred that prevent the customer using their booking.

No refunds are issued under normal circumstances.
COURSE PARTICIPATION, LIABILITY AND OTHER INFORMATION
All Coast to Coast activities (surfing, coasteering, stand up paddling, skateboarding, bodyboarding) carry a degree of risk both to people and property, even if under proper supervision by qualified instructors. It is also a strenuous activity that requires those taking part to have a reasonable standard of swimming and fitness.
Our lessons carry moderate risk of minor cuts and bruises and a very small risk of more serious incident. However, all our instructors follow robust operational procedures to reduce these risks as far as possible without impeding adventurous nature of the activity.
All customers participating in lessons must make the school aware of any medical conditions, illnesses or allergies which might affect the customers ability to safely participate in the lesson or course.
No one should participate in a lesson if pregnant or suffering from a heart condition.
We also expect customers to follow instructions at all times for your own safety.
All customers must be able to swim 50m comfortably for introductory courses in surfing/ coasteering/ Stand up paddling and bodyboarding, or 100m for more advanced level activities (Paddle tours, Advanced Surf lessons).
No customer should participate in the activities (surfing, coasteering, stand up paddling, skateboarding, bodyboarding) while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
Customer must not turn up for, or take part in, any activity if they, or any other members of their household, have suffered from CV19 symptoms during the past 14 days.
The company does not seek to limit or exclude any liability for personal injury or loss of life which may occur as a result of its own negligence or that of its employees, officers or agents however, the school assumes no liability in respect of personal injury, loss, damage, consequential loss or third party claims which occur through no fault of its own, its employees, officers or agents. All other liability or conditions implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent possible.
SURF AND WEATHER CONDITIONS
In the rare event we cannot hold a booked lesson due to the weather or surf conditions, the surf school will offer an alternative sport, an alternative lesson date, issue a voucher of equal value or provide a refund. Credit vouchers should be used within 12 months of the cancellation. Refunds will be processed within 30 days from the day of the cancellation. All postponed orders will be deleted, if not used, after 365 days.
SURF CAMP OR TOURS
In addition to our booking terms and liability, we expect all customers to take out their own insurance for all eventualities including 3rd party injury. Coast to Coast takes no responsibility for any extra costs the customer may face from cancellation of a surf camp or tour subject to external factors out with Coast to Coast Surf School’s control. Examples of this could be ferries being cancelled, pollution incidents, pandemics, war or terrorism. This list is not exclusive.
All liability with regard to sharing fellow customers transportation is with the driver and vehicle insurance. If using Coast to Coast vehicles free of charge this will again be subject to the vehicle insurance policy. Coast to Coast does not own any of the accommodation we may stay in and the contract is between the client and the accommodation provider. Any complaints and liability claims should be made with the accommodation provider directly. In 15 years of using providers in Scotland neither we or our customers have had to do this.
In addition to all the above booking terms and liability, hirers must have had a lesson with an approved instructor or be hiring with a person who has. Coast to Coast’s senior instructors will confirm, on a daily basis, if weather or sea conditions render it unsafe to hire and their decision will be final.
U16’s must have adult supervision. In bigger sea conditions it will be a condition of hire that they surf next to Coast to Coast lessons.
All hiring of surf boards will take place at Coast to Coast risk assessed venues. In general this is Belhaven Beach for surfing and the Dunbar coastline for paddling. Coast to Coast equipment may not be used outwith these areas other than with the prior written approval of a senior instructor.
All customers will be asked to demonstrate knowledge in dealing with rips/currents (how they work, what to do if caught in). Customers should also be aware of surf etiquette and the rules of surfing with other people (priority system, no drop ins)
When hiring equipment, you are responsible for your own well being in the surf and coastal zone.
It is a condition of hire that customers agree :
- If you deliver the rented equipment after the time period of rental has expired you will pay any additional charge for that extra period of time.
- to return equipment in a satisfactory undamaged condition with leashes coiled and wetsuits washed inside out.
Should any equipment be returned in a damaged condition, Coast to Coast reserves the right to charge a fee to cover the cost of the repair. Any damage to or loss must be reported immediately and it is a condition of hire that the customer will be responsible for any damage or loss occurring.
It is a condition of hire that customer agrees to compensate for any and all loss of or damage to the hired equipment including, if required, the replacement of the hired equipment. Customers also authorises Coast to Coast to apply charge rates.
Examples of damage: dents, chips and deep scratches, loss of fins, fin plugs, leash, leash plugs, slash cuts to the wetsuit, zips breaking or stitching damaged. If equipment is lost or damaged beyond repair the Customer will be charged at the full replacement cost.
Coast to Coast shall have the final decision on whether equipment which has been damaged and whether the extent of damage warrants replacement or repair.
Failure to return hire equipment may be the subject of a complaint to the police by Coast to Coast of theft in addition to seeking financial compensation explained above.
All Coast to Coast Vouchers must be used within one year of purchase and within the lesson or tour opening times. Please note we do not offer refunds for vouchers. We will only in exceptional circumstances allow an extension to the period of use. Vouchers are in an online form sent to customers email address at point of purchase.
Coast to Coast provide online retail of equipment. We hold limited retail stock in-house. If we do not have what you require we aim to contact our suppliers and get confirmation of stock within 48 hours.
Delivery We post to UK mainland only and all orders are subject to customer communication first. We insist on sending all orders recorded delivery and postage costs (where applicable) are payable at point of sale.
Returns Should there be an issue with your product or service at any stage please get in touch and we will try to sort out any problems as quickly as possible. For new equipment, we accept returns within seven days of receipt by the customer where the item is returned in original packaging and condition. We regret equipment cannot be returned after being used in water. For second hand sales, items are sold as seen. Unfortunately, no refunds are available. Items can be exchanged for an item of the same value if for example they don’t fit, provided these are returned within 7 days of purchase and are in the same condition as sold.
For new or second hand equipment payment in full is required at point of order.
We do not store credit card details nor do we share financial details with any 3rd parties.
Full payment is expected before the lesson, hire, course or surf camp takes place.
Coast to Coast accept payment as cash or cheques at point of sale or for online transactions we accept bacs, credit card, debit card or paypal payments.
Pandemic Restrictions : During periods of lockdown or lockdown easing, we will only accept online payments. If the centre and our booking office can be open card payments can also be taken on the day.
BALANCE OF PAYMENT
For all bookings, the balance of payment must be settled on the day of or prior to lessons, courses or hires taking place.
All products and services shown on this website are inclusive of VAT.
Occasionally we will increase prices at the start or during the season. All bookings made before the price change and vouchers bought with in the year to that date will be honoured at the original price.
Coast to Coast will request a deposit in advance when a booking is made. When a deposit has been paid and the booking is subsequently cancelled by the customer :
(a) For lessons or hires (provided cancellation is not less than 48hrs before the lesson or hire starting) or for courses or surf camps (provided cancellation is not less than two weeks before the lesson or hire starting) we will offer an alternative of equal value, a voucher or a full refund if a suitable alternative cannot be found. Refunds will be processed within 30 days from the day of the cancellation.
(b) We reserve the right not to refund the deposit when cancellation is notified by the customer closer to the start of the booking than the time periods set out in (a) above.

COAST TO COAST NEWSLETTERS
In order to receive our weekly e-mail newsletters you will be required to register with Mailchimp. Any personal information supplied to Coast to Coast as part of this registration process will be collected, stored and used in accordance with our privacy and data protection policy. If you are under 16, a parent’s or guardian’s permission is required and is understood to be made in signing onto our newsletter.
